Imphal, March 13 2023: Khudei Khunou (Khole Yulran) Village Authority, Chandel District has clarified that the women mentioned in the news under the heading "Two women pulled up with tablets, opium" on the front page of The Sangai Express English edition on March 7, 2023 and Tom TV news on March 6, 2023 are not residents of the village.

The secretary of the Village Authority in a press release said that the two women namely JB Shangam (29 yrs) w/o Ashok Lamkang of Vitu village and NL Shangwar alias Thangsang Anal (29 yrs) d/o Nungsring of Chakpikarong Chandel district arrested on March 5, 2023 from Khudei Khunou Part 2 have never been the residents of the village but only abscondee who were later apprehended by the Kakching police with contraband items from one pan shop of the village.

The village authority strongly denounced this attempt of tarnishing the image of the village by casting it as shelter for drug dealers and maintained that Khudei Khunou is a peaceful village which has been fostering love, peace and understanding with other communities.

Further the village authority pledge support to the ongoing Government's War on Drugs campaign to curb drug menace in State.
