AR conducts lecture on zero garbage drive

11 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a lecture on zero garbage drive at Chongjang village, Tengnoupal district today.
Villagers were briefed regarding the importance of cleanliness and were also motivated to keep their village clean, according to a press release from PRO IGAR (S).
Assam Rifles personnel along with overwhelming support from the villagers made combined efforts to make the village area clean and spread awareness amongst the locals.
The villagers were briefed regarding proper waste disposal and they were also encouraged to make stop use of polythenes to enable preserving the environment.
They were also advised to throw the waste only in dustbins and earmarked pits which should regularly be cleaned/regulated.
The villagers were also encouraged to make use of toilets for keeping the atmosphere clean.
The vigorous efforts concluded with tea and refreshment for the participants, it said.
The event was dedicated to the ongoing 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' an initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is being encouraged as a movement in various parts of the country.
Assam Rifles has been promoting 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' initiative in remote areas of North East as well, it added.
