Tamenglong, January 09 2017:
The Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has demand impartial enquiry into the burning down of a tata truck carrying about 200 quintals of rice and other essential items like onion, potatoes, garlic, biscuits etc bound for Tamenglong district near S Laijang Kuki village at around 8 am yesterday.
ZYF, in a statement issued by its general secretary today, alleged that the truck was stopped by five suspected UG cadres near S Laijang Kuki village on NH 37, about 25 km away from the State capital.
The armed persons who had their faces half covered with cloth, completely burnt down the truck at the spot, it said.
While refuting Manipur Police's clarification that the truck caught fire due to mechanical failure, the ZYF said they had been collecting information from different sources regarding the incident.
It has urged the Central Government to find out the truth behind the alleged arson.
