UNLF Bishnupur district Cmdr killed in encounter with 18 Sikh Regment

Imphal, October 07 2011:
Personnel of 18 Sikh Regiment shot dead a top militant belonging to proscribed United National Libration Front (UNLF) in an encounter which took place on Friday.
The UNLF cadre has been identified as Lt Yenkhom Satyabal alias Ingobi (37) of Mayang Imphal Kokchai, Imphal West district.
He was Bishnupur District Commander of the outfit, according to the police source.
The encounter took place in Nambol kamong Meisnam Maning Leikai area at about 12:35 am this morning, according to the PRO IGAR.
Acting on a tip off, the personnel of 18th Sikh Regiment rushed to the area and came to know that some underground cadres were taking shelter at a nearby house.
Upon reaching at the site, two suspected militants came out of the house, resulting in an encounter.
The security forces killed one of them.
The other managed to escape, the police said.
One 9mm pistol with 11 live rounds were recovered from his possession, added the police source.
According to local people near the spot, they heard around 20 rounds of gunshots in the night.
However they could not find any dead body on the following morning when they went there to enquire about the gunshots as troops of Sikh Regiment have already picked up the body and handed over to Nambol Police Station.
Three bullet injuries on his belly and one on his right arm were found on the dead body.
The body was handed over to his family members after post mortem at RIMS morgue.
Seityabal joined UNLF while he was appearing class ten examination about 20 years back, his family said.
