Jiri Block Congress office set aflame

Jiribam, July 07 2014:
Unidentified miscreants set on fire the office building of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Jiribam Block at Babupara last midnight.
The Congress Block office has been gutted completely in the fire.
Personnel from Jiribam Police and Fire Service were pressed into service to douse the ravaging fire, but they were helpless as the fire which had already engulfed the whole building.
The police believed that it was an act of arson and investigations are on to identify the miscreants behind the fire incident.
A few days ago, some unidentified miscreants also set the office building of ZEO, Jiribam on fire, but timely intervention by the Fire Service with the help of local public could save the building which was partially damaged in the fire.

It may be noted here that AMSU District Committee, MSF Special Branch, DESAM Local Council and KSA unit of Jiribam have been enforcing indefinite shutdown of all Government establishments including schools in the subdivision since June 25 to put pressure on the Government to implement their demands for posting adequate teachers and take care of infrastructural requirements of the schools in Jiribam.
The four student bodies have also imposed an indefinite blockade along National Highway-37 since July 5 on the same demands.
Many social organizations in the subdivision, including the Barak Circle Development Demand Committee (BCDDC) have extended support to the demand of the four major student bodies.
