15 day workshop on folk dance kicks off

The Devishori Foundation for Arts and Cultural Efforts (D-FACE), Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai kicked off a 15-day workshop cum production on folk dance under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, today.
The workshop will culminate on March 21 at Langthabal Kunja Community Hall.
Sh Nabachandra, State Coordinator, Art and Culture and Central Committee Nominee SNA New Delhi; L Lalmani Singh, chairperson Lilong Municipal Council and Oken Amakcham, Director Juvenile Theatre and renowned actor attended the event as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively, said a statement of the foundation today.
As part of the opening ceremony, a one day discourse on Manipuri folk dance was held.
Two cultural experts/resource persons, retired JNMDA Guru P Dhanajit Singh and Assistant professor (Department of Dance and Music, MU) Dr L Subadra Devi presented papers.
Devishori Yendrembam, secretary, D-FACE gave welcome address and expressed her gratitude to all concerned for supporting the programme.
More than 20 artistes from across the State are participating in the workshop.
The closing ceremony of the workshop will be held on March 21 with the production of a Manipuri folk dance, said the foundation.
