A 5-day long Photo Exhibition being organized by the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India has begun from today at Manipur Press Club here.
The inaugural function of the photo exhibition being held under the theme of 'Development initiatives in North-east' was attended by Executive Member of ADC Churachandpur Genneihkhup Vaiphei as Chief Guest and President of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) A Mobi as Guest of Honour and Field Exhibition Officer of Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity, Imphal Gin Gangte as President of the function.
Speaking on the occasion, A Mobi observed that the government should take the public into confidence and make available all informations before initiating any developmental work.
However, the photographs being exhibited highlight the achievements of the government only.
Even if there may be restriction over displaying photographs on the darker side of life, it is essential to include them for public awareness.
It would also be useful to include more photographs based on the theme of unity and integration.
Genneihkhup Vaiphei observed that the photographs being displayed are testimonials to the successful implementation of the flagship programmes of the UPA government in Manipur.
The conduct of the election to the District Councils after a long gap is one of the biggest achievements of the SPF government, he added.
Gin Gangte noted that DAVP has been organising similar photo exhibitions in different parts of the state throughout the year.
The photo exhibition which was organized at Leimakhong sometime earlier showing the developmental activities of the state government won the heart of the people and the present exhibition would highlight the developmental activities taken up by the central government in all the North-eastern states including Manipur.
