Imphal West mass testing drive sees 279 positive cases

As the district administration of Imphal West initiated aggressive mass testing in different localities from Tuesday in the light of multiple hotspots cropping up in different parts of the district, 279 positive cases have been detected out of 3649 samples tested in two days and presented a positivity rate of 7.65 per cent.
As per report received from the district administration, on the second day of the drive on Wednesday, 15 testing centres including mobile testing sites were set up and 1891 samples were tested during which 123 positive cases were detected.
Four positive cases were detected out of 104 samples tested at Langthabal Mantrikhong; 19 cases out of 261 samples tested at Ngairangbam Mayai Leikai; 21 cases out of 133 tested at Awang Jiri; 8 cases out of 90 samples tested at Sagoltongba; 14 cases out of 118 samples tested at Takyel Kolom Leikai; 6 cases out of 96 samples tested at Awang Leikinthabi; 18 cases out of 273 samples tested at Teng- dongyang; 3 cases out of 146 samples tested at Khonghampat Khunou; 8 cases out of 91 samples tested at Singjamei Oinam Thingel; 6 cases out of 92 samples tested at Amudon community hall; 8 cases out of 47 samples tested at Sekmai; 1 case out of 14 samples tested at Imphal Airport; 6 cases out of 159 samples tested at NRL Sagolband; and 1 case out of 86 samples tested at Lamdeng.
On the other hand, 109 samples were tested at Heinoupok on Wednesday but no positive cases were detected.
During the drive, samples some people were collected at TG Higher Secondary School and their results are awaited.
On the first day of the drive on Tuesday, 1758 samples were tested at 15 different locations and 156 positive cases were detected.
Meanwhile, Yaingangpokpi Primary Health Centre in association with Saijang COVID Task Force, Saijang Health and Wellness Centre and Saijang Progressive Youth Club organised a mass testing programme at Saijang Makha Leikai community hall under Lamlai AC in Imphal East district on Wednesday.
Only 30 people turned up for testing and five positive cases were detected during the programme conducted under the supervision of Yaingangpokpi PHC MO Dr Raikumar.
All of them have been lodged at the CHIC set up at Yaingangpokpi Ching Tam High School.
A similar programme was also held at Kameng Primary School where 11 positive cases were detected out of 100 samples tested.
Nongada Covid-19 Task Force hosted the testing programme under the aegis of Lamlai Kendra Covid Awareness and Enforcement Committee chairperson A Jamini, BJP Lamlai Mandal chairman Kh Ibomcha and Covid-19 2nd Wave Fighting Task Force.
