Imphal, February 01, 2013:
The Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) has claimed responsibility for killing Hopeson Jajo and injuring his wife Mayorin.
A press release issued by the outfit's senior information and publicity officer Max-stone said that Hopeson was assigned the task of mobilizing Southern Tangkhul people by one Phungthing of NSCN-IM against Meiteis for allegedly posing hurdles to the demands of Nagas.
Hopeson was also personal secretary of Phungthing who was the main culprit in killing Chongdan village secretary Ngachonmi last year at New Chekon.
He was assigned with a task to go to Tangkhul villages of Thoubal area and carry out intensive propaganda that the Naga issue could not be resolved on account of objections raised by Meiteis.
Hopeson and his cohorts were gathering at his house after coming from Lungthar village where the TAKL's sports meet cum conference was held.
As some MNRF cadres moved into the house, NSCN-IM cadres launched a pre-meditated attack resulting in a gun-fight.
On seeing Hopeson being hurt, his wife Mayorin tried to attack MNRF cadres but the cadres evaded the attack and hit Mayorin with pistol-butt on the forehead in self-defence.
It is time for all right thinking people to ponder over why NSCN-IM has been mobilizing innocent Tangkhul people against Meiteis by making a vilifying propaganda that NSCN-IM's demands for sovereignty/Naga integration/pan-Naga, Supra State/Autonomous Development Council etc, whichever it is cannot be achieved because of Meiteis, MNRF asserted.
MNRF would not spare those agents playing sycophancy to NSCN-IM leaders without distinguishing what is wrong and right for some personal gains.
Seeking public support towards the outfit, the MNRF stated that their objective is expanding the rightful historical integrity of Manipur through unity, independence and coexistence.
It further informed that Pershues Shimray has been appointed as the outfit's new revenue officer.
