AMCTA delegation back from AIFUCTO conference

Imphal, December 30 2017:
A delegation of All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) that attended the 29th All India Federation of University & College Teachers' Organisations (AIFUCTO) Statutory Conference held in Shirdi, Maharashtra from December 18 to 20 returned home.
During the conference, nine teachers from Imphal College, Oriental College and CI College presented papers in a National seminar held on the topic "Reforms in Higher Education : Challenges and Opportunities" .
Altogether 25 new office bearers of AIFUCTO for the term 2017-18 were also elected during the conference.
Of them, AMCTA president M Lokendro Singh was chosen as the Zonal Secretary, AIFUCTO North East.
The conference also adopted certain resolutions with regard to upliftment of higher education in the country.
It demanded immediate publication of 7th UGC Pay Review Committee Report and decisions of the UGC taken in its meeting held on February 22 last.
It also demanded 100 percent financial assistance for uniform and simultaneous implementation of 7th UGC Pay Revision and arrangement of mandatory regulations issued by UGC in accordance with the powers conferred on it by the Constitution of India and UGC Act.
The conference further demanded removal of all anomalies of earlier pay revisions as the AIFUCTO has already addressed the anomalies to the Chauhan Committee.
Along with resolving to scrap the proposed regulation of Graded Autonomy for institutions and enhance budgetary allocation for education to at least 6 percent of GDP, the conference asked the concerned authority to implement the order of the Supreme Court on "Equal Pay for Equal Work" at the earliest.
