Bird traps seized

Bishnupur, November 29 2017:
A team of officials headed by Range Forest Officer, Kakching, Naorem Munal Meitei seized 14 bird traps, which were set by some unknown miscreants to trap migratory birds at Loushi Pat, today morning .
Speaking to media persons, RFO, Kakching Naorem Munal Meitei stated that the bird traps were seized during a drive launched against poaching of wild animals and birds at the border areas of Kakching and Thoubal, especially at Loushipat area .
Honorary Wildlife Warden Thoubal, Waikhom Ramachandra, Deputy Range Officer, Pallel, Md Salaouddin, Forest Management volunteer S Ningthem and other Forest staff took part in the drive .

14 bird traps were seized even through numerous appeal and notice have been made to the public to refrain from hunting/poaching migratory birds, he added .
He added that the officials could not nab the miscreants, however warned that the owners of the area, where the trap has been set up, would be held responsible next time a bird trap is seized .
He urged all to support the cause of saving migratory birds and to refrain from setting up any traps in the future.
