Imphal, September 29 2013:
The Congress party is not that type of political party which surfaces only during the time of election, nor is it a party which starts with a bang but ends with a whimper, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has exclaimed.
Speaking as Chief Guest of a day-long Block Level Political Convention organized by Uripok Block Congress Committee at Radhabinolal Mandop at Uripok Takhellambam Leikai here today, Gaikhangam further stated that Congress party, which is 150 years old, is still expanding today.
The party has been serving the people of the country relentlessly under the instruction of All India Congress Committee.
It is not a party which shows its face only during the time of election, he added.
Making a scathing attack on the leaders of the Opposition parties in the State, Gaikhangam said that today a number of political leaders of different political parties have come out and have started delivering speeches at public platforms as if they care for the people and the State, but in reality they are worried of how to get votes for the coming election.
He further stated that though the opposition parties have been reacting against the Food Security Bill, it has been passed by both Houses of the Parliament and is ready for implementation in some States of the country.
All these developments taken up by the Congress party should be understood by the people and support the move so that all the people enjoy the benefits.
The day-long political convention was also attended by MLA L Nandakumar of Uripok A/C; RK Ranisana, President of Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee; S Jiten, Secretary (Administration) of MPCC and P Sashikanta, in-charge of Youth Congress.
