Imported cigarettes recovered

Imphal, August 28 2020:
Troops of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) recovered imported cigarettes from Khudengthabi area, yesterday.
A press release issued by IGAR (S) said that a team of the Tengnoupal battalion Assam Rifles during routine area domination detected suspicious movements of four to five persons near a pineapple farm and upon being challenged, the persons fled the area immediately.
On carrying out a thorough search of the area, eight cartons of imported cigarettes worth approximately Rs 4 lakh were recovered.
The recovered items have been handed over to Customs Department Moreh, it added.
