Tamenglong to be made most progressive in 10 yrs: Gaikhangam

Imphal, January 28 2014:
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has exclaimed that the backward Tamenglong district would be made the most progressive district of the State within 10 years.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the 4th Conference of All Zeliangrong Catholic Women's Society held at Nungba Bazar in Tamenglong district today.
Gaikhangam further said that the deplorable roads and bridges of Tamenglong district would soon be developed in tiptop condition to facilitate speedy development of the district.

A new scheme to rehabilitate jhum cultivators in hills areas would also be launched to prevent jhumming cultivation and protect the natural environment.
A detailed project report (DPR) has been framed for the scheme and it would be sent to the Ministry concerned for seeking approval shortly, the Deputy CM noted.
He also underlined the role of women in the progress and development of a society, and appealed to all to live in peace and harmony.
Prior to the beginning of the conference, Deputy CM Gaikhangam inaugurated a Tribal Market Complex at Nungba Bazar which has been constructed at a cost of Rs.1.47 crore.
The conference was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary Victor Keishing and officials of Tamenglong District Administration.
