Imphal, October 27 2018:
An RTI applicant has alleged that he received threats from a person who identified himself as a RPF/PLA cadre for furnishing information about NFSA distribution in WabagaibA/C through RTI.
He has also urged the Government to intervene in the wrongful conduct of NFSA distribution in the same constituency while appealing RPF/PLA to clarify on the matter.
The applicant has been identified as one Thounaojam Tomba Meitei of Keirak Leirak Achouba of Kakching District.
Addressing a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, Tomba (the RTI applicant) informed that a person who claimed himself to be a member of RPF/PLA yesterday called him twice and accused him of obstructing the affairs of the militant group by seeking information about NFSA distribution in Wabagai A/C .
He went on to explain that he had furnished information about distribution of items under NFSA in Wabagai A/C, more particularly for 36/30 polling station of the A/C, through RTI.
Tomba claimed that he sought the information since only two members out of the five members in his family have been given PHH rice quotas under NFSA and as the agent concerned had informed him that the NFSA item is given to those who have the voting rights.
Asserting that his AAY card was turned as PHH Card in 2017 without his knowledge, Tomba maintained he had stopped taking his rice quota just after he took it twice or thrice as the Fair Price Shop (FPS) agent refused to give the full quota as guaranteed by his card.
He also conveyed that he came to know from an RTI reply that the authority concerned (CAF & PD) had given full quota for all the family members of Tomba and his sister in law Thounaojam (o) Prabhahini Leima.
The RTI applicant said that he was threatened with dire consequences if he along with Thounaojam (o) Prabhahini Leima and his advocate fail to come at Moreh and meet the members of the militant organization within two/three days.
Tomba then urged the Government and the authorities concerned to look into the wrong distribution of NFSA items in Wabagai A/C while appealing RPF/PLA to clarify whether they have made any phone calls and issued the threat to him.
