Manipur State to have own Passport Office soon

A Passport Office will be set up in the State soon to put an end to inconveniences faced by people of the State in procuring passport.
This announcement was made by Muktesh K Pardeshi, Joint Secretary (PSP) and Chief Passport Officer, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India while inaugurating a two-day long Passport Camp organized by Ministry of External Affairs at 1st Manipur Rifles Banquet Hall here today.
Muktesh said that the Ministry of External Affairs has already granted permission for setting up of a Passport office in the State and a series of discussion will be held with the State Government to set up the office at the earliest.
With the setting up of the Passport Office, people of the State will come to know the importance of passport, he said, adding that such passport camp will be held from time to time in the State till the office is set up.
Dwelling on the extra money and long time taken in procuring passport by people of the State as of now, Muktesh also cautioned passport seekers of the State to be aware of brokers as they will charge huge sum of money against the actual amount required and may take longer time to get the passport.
