Workshop concludes

A closing function of the 30-day workshop cum production of Chungoi Marol Lairen Makhoi of Manipur was held today at (Meetei Indigenous Thang-Ta & Cultural Institute ) MITTACI Hall, Kongba Kshetri Leikai.
The programme began with a pena (traditional stringed musical instrument) performance from oja Kshetrimayum Raban.
As the chief guest of the function, social & cultural activist, Rakesh Naorem said that children can become valuable citizens of the State if their parents/guardians encourage them to follow their dreams.
As many girls and boys have started showing interest in Thang-ta, the indigenous martial art is becoming more vibrant, he said adding that making students study the art form as a subject till Class XII is also a wise initiative.
"Preserving the rich cultural history of the State is our responsibility," he added.
MITTACI Director Kh Surchandra Meitei; National awardee & entrepreneur Laimayum Pratap Singh and Manipur Health Services, Medical Officer Dr Thokchom Priyobrata Singh also attended the programme.
Thang-Ta's guru Puthem Mangi, as a special invitee, spoke about the art form in detail.
At the end of the function, a cultural programme was also performed.
