Kangpokpi, June 23 2017:
The Keithelmanbi Youth Association in a praiseworthy approach has cleaned the unattended drain alongside the NH-2 this morning.
The drain at Keithelmanbi village which is around 70 metres long remained unattended for so long that the waste materials have created massive inconveniences to thousands of commuters.
The contaminated drain is also a health hazard for the nearby residents while the overflowing water percolates into the potholes which also account for the deteriorating condition of the road.
President of KYA Paogoulun said that the unhygienic drain is in such a condition that no one is willing to clean or even touch the clogged water while adding that the youth of Keithelmanbi have decided to clean the drain so as to draw the State Govt's attention as well as with an intention to help them (the Govt and authority concerned).
"We have initiated such a work even when the Govt machineries would not touch the dirty water and expect the Govt to keep the drain clean", he added.
