Post harvest technology training

Additional Chief Secretary Shambhu Singh
today inaugurated a training programme on post
harvest technology (fruits & vegetables) at
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hengbung, Senapati,
reports our correspondent.
Organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra in
association with Amity International Centre
for Post Harvest Technology and Cold Chain
Management, Amity University, Noida, the
training programme which will continue till
June 25 was also attended by Prof Sunil
Saran, Chairman (AICPHT & CCM), Amity
University, Noida and Prof BS Hansra, Pro-
fessor Emeritus, Amity University, Noida.
Shambhu Singh emphasized the need for
value-addition for marketing flowers.
Prof Sunil Saran said that value addition
is the only means to prevent wastage of
abundantly available local fruits and vegetables.
During the three days training programme,
trainees will be imparted hands-on training
on minimally processed pineapple, mixed
vegetable pickles, pineapple jam, mango
pickle in jaggery, potato chips and french
fries, mango jam, tomato ketchup etc.
