Imphal, December 21 2010:
The Manipuri Short Story Society, India (MSSSI), in collaboration with National Sahitya Akademi (NSA) and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, (MSP) Tripura will be organizing the 17th National Short Story Festival at the Vat Auditorium and the TB Association Auditorium on December 25 and 26 .
President of MSSSI, Sinam Tonubabu and President of MSP, Sureshkumar will be the presidium members on the first day.
Salam Tomba will be the moderator.
Naorem Khagendra, Convener of Manipuri Language Advisory Board, NSA and Ramkumar Mukhopadhyai, Regional Secretary of NSA will be the chief guest and guest of honour on the second day.
Sinam Tonubabu will be the president.
W Raghumani, Head of Manipuri Department, Assam University and NG Basantakumar, Head of Manipujri Department, MCD Sonai College will be the moderators of the morning and evening sessions respectively, stated a press release of the society today.
Around 30 Manipuri short story writers from Manipur, Bangladesh, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam Meghalaya and Nagaland will be participating in the festival.
An anthology of Manipuri short stories which were presented in the 16th National Short Story Festival, named.
'Ihourakpa' will also be released as part of the festival.
Nabakumar Nongmeikapam, Kesho Irengba, Salam Tomba, Bimabati Thiyam ongbi, Kshetrimayum Subadani and Maya Nepram will leave Imphal on December 24 to participate in the festival.
Naorem Khagendra had already left Imphal on December 17 .
