Works Minister Th Biswajit has appealed to the people to call off the indefinite blockade imposed along the 5 kilometre stretch of the Sugnu Ithai to Wangoo Lupa Marup and assured to repair the road before March 31.Replying to a call attention motion moved by Congress MLA K Ranjit in the Assembly today, Biswajit said that the road was constructed under PMGSY scheme and was completed in 2012.He then claimed that the road was blocked by the people while necessary works were underway following completion of an estimate of the budget for the road construction which amounts to around Rs 55.16 lakh.
He then assured to obtain necessary approval and complete the road before handing it over to the people before March 31.The Minister then encouraged the local MLA to visit the area with the engineers concerned tomorrow and to ensure that the people withdraw the road blockade.
On the other hand, presenting the call attention motion, MLA Ranjit said that the bandh/blockade has caused immense inconvenience for the students who are appearing the ongoing Board and Council examinations.
He continued that the condition of the road deteriorated following the flood of 2016 and urged the Minister concerned to give permission for a visit to the area with Departmental engineers tomorrow.
