JAC calls off proposed NH-37 shutdown

Noney, December 19 2021:
The proposed indefinite total shutdown of NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) and ban on all National Projects called by the JAC against the accidental death of Amos Bariampan and Agaiba Baland has been called off.
The JAC resolved to call off the proposed shutdown after a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the JAC and the Manipur Drivers' Association (MDA) and Noney Police today.
The MoU included providing a suitable job equivalent top VDF to both the families of victims; appealing the DC Noney for ex-gratia for the victims; MDA to provide Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the victims while Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the victims by the truck owner on or before January 15, 2022; repairing or replacement of the damage bike by the owner of the truck and MDA and the truck currently in custody of Noney Police will be released after fulfilment of the said agreements.
