Imphal, February 18 2013 :
With the village court of Laikoiching in Saikul block under Senapati district remaining incomplete even after two years of its construction, the Village Development Committee has pointed finger of suspicion to DDO of Saikul Block over possible siphoning of the funds sanctioned for the said construction work.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, members of Village Development Committee (VDC) informed that the construction work on the village court started in 2010-11 with funding from Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan and MGNREGS.
However, the construction process has remained stagnant till today.
The Laikoi village Court was constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 10 lakhs.
They further informed that when asked why the construction process has not been completed till today, the authorities concerned conveyed that it is being constructed from the material components sanctioned under Nirmal Bharat Abhhiyan on yearly basis and so it has to wait for the material components to arrive for resumption/completion of the construction work.
Giving one reason or the other for incompletion of the village court by the DDO and his staffs indicates that some of the funds sanctioned for the construction work may have been misused by the concerned DDO, the VDC members suspected.
They have also warned of initiating necessary legal proceedings against the DDO, if the construction work on the village court is not completed at the earliest possible.
