Cell phone subscribers queue up for verification

Imphal, January 17, 2011:
With the deadline of submission of verification documents to the mobile service providers about to expire, large numbers of mobile subscribers of Aircel, Airtel, BSNL and Vodafone are forming long queues in front of transit offices and retail outlets of the mobile service providers.
As per the directive of the SC, four passport size photographs and a Xerox copy of a residence certificate which can be a driving license, a voter ID card, Service ID card or a residential certificate issued by competent authority are needed for verification of mobile numbers.
Aircel office hinted that the deadline may be extended since the verification process may not be completed by January 19.Queues have also been reported in front of photo studios too.
