Thang-Ta player bids for world record

In a bid to show the power of Thang-Ta by entering into Limca Book of Records (India) and Guinness Book of World Records, a 35- year old Thang-Ta player of the state has successfully pulled a SUV Scorpio with the help of a pointed spear fitted on his throat here today.
Sougaijam Bhaba Singh alias Momocha (35), s/o Sougaijam (L) Indrakumar and S (O) Memcha of Moirangkhom Sougaijam Leikai pulled the vehicle weighing around 2,510 kg over a distance of 122.5 feet against the incline surface of Loklaobung Bridge.
When asked about the technique that he employed to pull the vehicle, Bhaba said that since childhood he played Thang-Ta and the same techniques of the indigenous performing martial art of Manipur were adopted in pulling the vehicle.

Though he refused to disclose the particular names of the said Thang-Ta techniques, Bhaba maintained that "power and magic" could be derived from Thang-ta.
After 8 years of practicing the techniques of pulling vehicles, Bhaba succeeded in pulling a 407 Tata truck along Canchipur Road in 2003 .
However, with an aim to highlight the power of Thang-Ta he drags the SUV Scorpio vehicle this time for making a place in Limca Book of Records (India) and if possible Guinness Book of World Records.
Bhaba, who learned Thang-Ta from eight renowned martial art masters including his late grandfather Maniketan, informed that footage of today's attempt and other necessary documents would soon be sent to authorities of Limca Book of Records and Guinness Book of World Records .
