Relief materials distributed to families affected by storm

Additional Chief Secretary in charge of Relief & Disaster Management, Govt of Manipur, M H Khan today inspected areas in Bishnupur and Kakching districts which were severely damaged by the storm on Monday morning.
During his extensive tour at Kwakta and Kakching, the Commissioner of Relief & Disaster Management distributed cheques to the families of victims who died and sustained injuries in yesterday's cyclone.
Relief materials were also distributed to families whose houses were damaged by the strong wind and are currently taking shelter in relief camps.
M H Khan is also undertaking extensive visits to other disaster hit districts.
The State Government is collecting detailed assessment reports from the respective Deputy Commissioners of the affected districts and a memorandum is being submitted to the Govt of India for soliciting financial relief package for distribution to the calamity affected families.
Meanwhile, the Village Chiefs' Association of Noney and Tamenglong districts has appealed the State Government for relief packages.
Though the exact extent of the damage done in the districts is not known yet as the association is waiting for reports, so far 256 kutcha houses have been completely destroyed and around 600 kutcha houses partially damaged by the storm on Monday morning, said the association.
It may be mentioned that the storm had killed three women-one in Kakching and the other two in Churachandpur district.
There are also reports of damages done by the storm in Jiribam district also.
Vice Chairman, Manipur Food Industries Corporation Ltd (MFICL) K Saratkumar Singh has inspected the trail of damages in Jiribam district today.
He visited damaged sites in Barak Circle- Bhutangkhal, East Goakhal, Jakuradhore and Goakhal etc.
During the inspection, he promises all possible assistance to the affected people, said our correspondent.
