Education Commissioner T Ranjit Singh has clarified that neither the Education Department nor the Government has issued any order to postpone the examinations (both theory and practical) being conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM).
He also informed that the Class XI & XII examinations will be held as per their schedules.
The Education Commissioner made the clarification following circulation of a forged/fake order for postponement of the examina- tions being conducted by BSEM and COHSEM through social media sites.
The fake order was issued in the name of the Governor of Manipur and explained that it was done to ensure reduction of mass gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and as a precautionary measure.
Speaking to media persons at COHSEM office, Babupara, Ranjit said that he came to know about the fake order being circulated in social media at around 1 pm today.
Assuring that COHSEM and the Education Department immediately took up necessary steps to counter the situation, Ranjit informed that he has circulated clarification messages regarding the fake order on social media sites.
Appealing the media to spread the clarification from the Department and COHSEM, the Commissioner maintained that all the examinations for Class XI and XII will be held as per their original schedules.
Appealing all students and their guardians/parents not to harbour any doubts, Ranjit further explained that the department has lodged an FIR with Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS) to investigate the matter and take appropriate actions against the culprit(s) .
