Drugs worth Rs 4 crore seized

Tengnoupal Battalion of HQ 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended two narcotics smuggler carrying 1.126 kgs of Heroin worth approximately Rs.4.504 crore from Khudengthabi Check Post today.
Based on specific input from reliable sources, a team of Tengnoupal stopped a red coloured Hyundai Epn travelling from Moreh to Imphal for checking.
On carrying out a thorough check of the vehicle, the search team recovered two big packets and 33 small packets containing white powder suspected to be Heroin duly concealed inside the chasis fold of the car and inside two packages of bed cover.
The approximate weight of the contraband including the packing material is 1.126 kgs and the approximate value of the contraband is Rs 4.504 crore, said a statement issued by the PRO of Assam Rifles.
The two apprehendees identified themselves as Md Bharul Islam (22), s/o Md Abdul Salam of Lilong and Md Ina (31) years, s/o Md Ayazuddin of Hatta Mana Ingkhol, Prompat Sub Division, Imphal.
The apprehendees along with recovered items were handed over to Narcotics Control Bureau, Imphal.
