Shyamkumar inspects flood affected areas in Andro AC

Imphal, June 14 2018:
Following the incessant rainfall in the past few days and subsequent flooding in several parts of the valley district, Forest and Environment Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar today inspected the flood affected areas at the Andro Assembly Constituency in Imphal East district.
Addressing the media persons, Th Shyamkumar said that almost 70 percent of the areas in Andro are inundated in the flood water.
The overflow of Thoubal river at Tulihal has caused floods in Angtha, Poiroukhonjin, Tulihal and areas near Thoubal project.
He stated that the root cause of the present situation is the vast exploitation of the environment.
Appealing to the citizens of the State to conserve environment and water bodies, The Minister said it is unfortunate that the State is reeling under the effect of flood.
He said Chief Minister N Biren Singh is wholeheartedly helping the flood victims and the State Government is providing all possible assistance.
Th Shyamkumar said, earlier, only Poiroupat area was affected by the flood, but of the areas are flooded this year.
The Minister also provided relief materials (daily essential items) to the flood affected people.
