Teenaged girl assaulted for refusing to marry

A 17-year-old girl has been hospitalized in serious condition after she was allegedly kidnapped and severely beaten up by a man who claims to be a personnel belonging to 165th Battalion, Territorial Army posted at Lokchao in Chandel district.
Bogimayum Lily, daughter of BM Ajijur of Uchiwa Awang Leikai in Imphal West was reportedly kidnapped by one Md Rajauddin (26) and his men on May 6 morning.
Reports said the accused wanted to marry the victim forcibly.
Accused Rajauddin, hailing from Kakching Keirak Awang Leikai in Thoubal district, identified himself to the victim as a personnel of 165th Battalion, Territorial Army, and told her she must marry him.
The victim was abducted by the accused when she went to Chanabam Thambou Higher Secondary School at Mayang Imphal for tuition that day.
Her house is located about 8 km from the school.
Rajauddin forced Lily to marry him which she declined.
He then brutally thrashed her and subjected to torture inside his vehicle.
Rajaudin and his men came in two vehicles�one van and one car� to abduct the victim, a class 12 student.
Reports also said that Lily jumped off the speeding vehicle at Heyal Hangun in Uchiwa to resist herself from further physical tortures by her kidnappers.
The girl is presently undergoing medical treatment at Shija Hospitals here after the incident.
She sustained serious injuries in the physical assault by the accused.
On Monday, leaders of the All Manipur Muslim Students' Union (AMMSU) and All Manipur Muslim Associations Coordinating Committee (AMMACC) along with a media team visited Shija Hospitals and met the victim.
AMMSU president Md Farid Khan later told the media that all the culprits involved in Lily case should be booked and brought to justice.
He also expressed resentment over the release of Md Alauddin, father of the main accused in the case.
Alauddin was picked up by Mayang Imphal Police Station in connection with the Lily case, but released later.
Earlier, an FIR was registered with the Mayang Imphal Police Station over the incident.
AMMSU leader Farid threatened that the Muslim civil society organizations will launch intense agitation against Mayang Imphal Police Station if it is not ready to do justice in the case.
Farid also appealed to the Chief Minister and the Home Minister to take prompt action for booking all the culprits.
