Ningol Chakkouba celebration at Guwahati, continues at different areas of Manipur

Manipur National Council, Assam, Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF) Manipur and Assam Branch also organised Ningol Chakkouba at Kekura Nagar, Dispur, Guwahati today.
The celebration was organised under the funding of Khurai AC MLA, L Sushindro and International Awardee and Educationalist Dr S Manaoton.
Sahitya Akademi Translation Awardee, N Anita lauded the organisers for organising the event especially for the Manipuri Ningols living outside the State.
Appealing the citizens of the State to continue celebrating the ocassion in the future, she said that the Manipuris residing outside the State will live according to the State's culture and tradition although they are settling outside Manipur.
PAWF Guwahati secretary, Raju Maibam gave the welcoming speech of the event.
He said that the event was first organised in 2016 under the supervision of PAWF Manipur with the aim to promote/preserve the beautiful bond of brother and sister.
PAWF Assam president Th Shyam, vice president W Helensana, PAWF Manipur president Yaiskul Khwairakpam, vice president, Sobita Mongjam and Nokphade producer & director Th Ruhinikumar attended the event as presidium members.
PAWF Manipur, secretary Rakesh Naorem, Manipur National Counoil secretary, Ksh Singhajit, Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Kamrup District, Assam former president, N Amuyaima and renowned writer K Hemchandra also spoke during the event among others.
More than 100 Ningol were invited for the grand feast and gifts (Manipur Eyong Phi) were also handed over to the them.
On the other hand, Imphal East district police organised Ningol Chakkouba at the police HD at Porompat today.
Around 400 Ningols from the district participated in the event.
Speaking at the function, SP K Meghachandra said that the event will strengthen the bond between the people and the police.
He mentioned that despite best efforts, certain factors seem to pose a hurdle in building a trusting relationship between the people and the police and as such the event has been organised with the aim of eliminating the said barrier.
Speaking about rumours and complaints about police personnel being involved in dice gambling, the SP urged the people, specially the mothers and women, to inform the authority concerned along with supplying proofs like photo or videos and assured to take up necessary actions immediately.
He also urged all to send photos as proof to the authority concerned regarding other unethical practices by police personnel.
The SP conveyed that only the police cannot put a complete stop to dice gambling and appealed to the general public to offer support and cooperation to rid the menace as well.
He continued that the district police take matters concerning cyber crime, crime against women as well as drug related crime rather seriously as these pose a serious threat to the society.
Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup president Yumlembam Mema, IRMA, Guwahati secretary Helam Haokip, All Manipur Muslim Women Development Organisation president Sitara Begum and Telipati woman leader Rukamani attended the event as the presidium members.
A feast was organised for the people and the district police also handed over gifts to the attending Ningols.
On the other hand, Kakching Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) celebrated Ningol Chakkouba at Sugnu and Pangaltabi post today.
Womenfolk from all section of society were invited to the event and also highlighted the significance of family values of the Manipuri culture.
True to the tradition, a befitting lunch was organised and sweets were distributed to the women and gifts were also exchanged.
A total of 100 women and 20 men participated in the celebration.
The idea behind celebrating this auspicious festival is to acknowledge the efforts of local Manipuri women in fostering peace and unity in the State along with security forces.
All the women, who attended the celebrations expressed their gratitude to the Assam Rifles for inviting them.
