Churachandpur, August 11 2017:
Churachandpur today embraced a three hour long mass cleanliness campaign within the town as it prepares for a haul-over in the runup to the first State level Swachhta competition.
Split in 20 clusters, the campaign was held under the aegis of District Water and Sanitation Committee where civil society organisations and shopkeepers joined them in hundreds.
The participants were also sensitised on the importance of maintaining a clean lifestyle in one's neighbourhood and work place.
A recent meeting of the village authorities, local CSOs and district administration has decided to dedicate the last Friday of every month as cleanliness day.
While lauding the people of Churachandpur for their tireless support, the Deputy Commissioner Shyam Lai Poonia appealed all to take the challenge of making Churachandpur the cleanest among other districts of the State.
He further informed that the 1st district level Swachhta award will be given on the 71st Independence day.
While taking the Swachhta pledge, Shopkeepers Association, Churachandpur has announced their full support in making the campaign successful and promised the Deputy Commissioner to carry out social service on every Sunday morning for at least two hours, reports our correspondent.
