CPI (L) Central Committee member Vivek Das has announced formation of Manipur unit of Communist Party of India (Liberation) today.
Addressing a press conference, Vivek Das said that the State unit was formally constituted after holding a series of meetings at Tampha Hotel yesterday.
Along with 11 other executive members, the party elected Sapam Shamungou as its State secretary, he added.
Vivek Das said that the State unit was formed to strengthen left party movement in Manipur.
Saying that his party's ideology is to work for the demo- cratic rights of the people, Vivek Das said the party would put in efforts to free the people of the State from the misrule of Congress Government in the State and NDA Government at the Centre.
Saying that BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre has started showing its true colour' within seven months of their 'misrule', Vivek Das dubbed BJP as 'Bharatiya Jhut Boinewala Party' .
He added that people have already seen the misgovernment of Congress as well in the past one decade.
CPI (L)'s objective is to form a political alliance of like minded Left parties to root out anti-people and anti-development BJP and Congress Governments from the country, he added.
He added that there is a need to strengthen the Left parties to implement ILPS in die State and repeal draconian AFSPA from the whole North East.
He also pledged support to the democratic struggle of Irom Chanu Sharmila, who has been fasting for more than 14 years demanding repeal of AFSPA.
Vivek added that CPI(L) would not only fight for the development and welfare of the State but also check if the Central Government sponsored schemes are properly implemented or not.
He added that his party would also put in efforts to end unemployment problems.
