Imphal, April 09 2015 :
JAC of All Manipur Hill Districts Contract Basis Teachers' Association (AMHDCBTA) has forced to halt the Maram-Peren road along National Highway 129/A construction work on Thursday.
The step was taken as part of the association's decision to shut down all national projects undertaken in Manipur including rail line construction, Maram-Peren road in Senapati and Thoubal- Kasom Khullen road from April 9 demanding service regularization.
The JAC members went to the work site along the Maram-Peren road and forced to stop the construction work presently undertaken by 98RCC/GREF.The association said the labourers at the site voluntarily stopped from working to show solidarity to the striking contract teachers.
The construction work will not resume until the agitation is withdrawn or the issue is resolved, it quoted OC of the 98RCC/GREF as saying.
He however appealed to the teachers' body to exempt essential service from the purview of the strike.
AMHDCBTA has been demanding service regularization.
It has also warned if the demands are not materialized even after shutting down of the central projects, it will intensify its agitation by enforcing economic blockade on National Highways.
