Imphal, June 08 2020:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has suggested the school authorities to pay the salaries of teachers and staffs from school management fund or Government relief fund.
AMSU, in a statement said, it is very unfortunate that some schools namely Xtra-Edge School, Comet School, Kids Foundation, Kindergarten Montessori School, Maria Montessori School, Ratankumar Memorial School and RM School have been asking the guardians/parents to clear the pending school fees and admission fee for new session.
The Government had issued a circular asking schools to submit information regarding fee structures, number of students, number of staffs, total fees collected, monthly fee etc and also the issue of school fee collection during lockdown period is still under the purview of the stakeholders, it said.
However, keeping aside all this, these schools, asking guardians/parents to pay the fees is a very harsh move, it said.
AMSU has also urged the Government not to take the right decision without favouring the schools.
Considering the number of students leaving the State every year for further studies, the Government should consider increasing the intake capacity of universities in the State, it said.
AMSU also thanked IPS Canchipur for considering their request of not collecting school fees during the lockdown period for the sake of poor students.
