MU celebrates Teachers' Day

To remember Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, and to honour retired teachers of the University, Manipur University today celebrated Teachers’ Day in the Centenary Hall of Manipur University .
Retired teachers of the university including former VC Prof L Tombi Singh were felicitated and honoured by presenting shawl and a memento during the occasion, according to a statement issued by the PRO of MU .
Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adya Prasad Pandey in his chief guest speech stated that teachers are the epicentre of overall growth and development of the society.
Teachers remain teachers, they never retire, they may retire from service but not from teachership .
The place and position of a teacher is always much much higher than any other position in the society.
They are the living Gods after the parents, Prof AP Pandey added .
Prof Pandey further said that the happiest moment for a teacher is that when he will hear his or her student got a better placement for his future.
Taking utmost care and to build the career of each and every student, is the major responsibility of the teachers irrespective of their caste, creed, colour, gender and race.
Teacher should be pathfinder of the students and engineers of human being.
He also narrated the legacy of Dr Radhakrishnan .
In his guest of honour speech, Prof W Vishwanath, Senior-most Professor & Dean of Life Sciences highlighted some of the good characteristics of a good teacher .
As one of the presidium members, Prof Rajmuhon narrated the past lectures delivered by Radhakrishnan at national and international forum .
Prof Arun Kumar, Dean of Human and Environmental Sciences expressed some of the views and thoughts of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam .
Prof Dhaneswor Singh, retired Professor of the university, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for organizing such kind of felicitation programme and requested to hold the programme every year.
Some retired teachers also shared their past experiences in the Manipur University during the occasion.
