Imphal, June 05 2020:
Romi Bag industry is sending samples of its manufactured PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment) to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for safety tests and certification, said its proprietor Khumbongmayurn Dhanachandra today.
If the PPE pass the tests and is certified, Romi Bag would be able to supply the PPEs to the health authorities and re-inforce State's stock to successfully fight COVID-19, he said.
Speaking to media persons at its Kwakeithel branch office, Dhanachandra said the industry started manufacturing the PPEs to make up the shortage the State is facing.
"Romi Bag is using certified cloth for manufacturing the PPEs.
Now, the final product (PPE) needs certification before it is rolled out," he said.
On certification processes, he said that the certification authority has informed the industry to send the documents necessary and the samples of the PPEs for safety tests.
The application and the necessary documents, as per instruction of the certification authority, will be sent on plain papers due to unavailability of Rs 500 stamped papers.
The stamped paper documents will have to be submitted within a month after the lockdown ends, he informed.
The PPE samples will be sent for safety tests at the earliest, he added.
