Imphal, February 04 2017:
Former Minister and incumbent general secretary of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee Langpoklakpam Jayantakumar is most likely to resign from Congress party and join the National People's Party (NPP).
A grand meeting of the people of Keishamthong AC was held today at Jayantakumar's Pishumthong residence today where his supporters have given their consent to the former Minister to quit Congress party and join NPP.
Speaking to media persons later, L Jayantakumar said that he has been working as Congress party's general secretary apart from holding Ministerial posts in the past.
It was rather surprising that an NCP MLA who had been criticising Congress party for the past 15 years was allowed to join the party when the State Assembly election is just 60 days away, he said.
In addition to allowing the NCP MLA to join Congress, he was also given the party ticket.
"Even though I've been denied Congress ticket, people of Keishamthong AC asked me to fight the election and they gave me their consent to join NPP", Jayantakumar said.
He further informed that he would start due preparations in full swing to fight the State Assembly election on NPP ticket.
