Jiribam, December 26 2020:
Altogether retired 33 teachers of Government aided schools were felicitated yesterday in a programme organised by K Sharatkumar Singh, vice chairman of Manipur Food Industries Corporation Private Ltd at PWD Guest House at Babupara in Jiribam district.
The felicitation programme organised in connection with the birth anniversary celebration of former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was graced by K Sharatchandra himself along with president of All Jiribam United Aided Elementary and Secondary Retired Teachers Association, N Manikanta Singh as presidium members on the dais.
The retired teachers were honoured with shawls and a cash incentive of Rs 5,000 during the programme.
Speaking at the occasion, K Sharatkumar Singh said that the programme was held in connection with the commemoration programme in honour of the late Prime Minister.
The day is celebrated as the Good Governance Day by the BJP-led Government both at the Centre and in the State, he said while adding that floral tributes were paid to the photo of the late Prime Minister in a function held at Mandal Office in Jiribam.
The programme was especially organised to honour the teachers who had once helped groom the students in Jiribam district but retired without any pension benefit.
The BJP and the State Government truly regard them for their contributions, he said.
N Manikanta Singh, on behalf of all retired teachers, expressed gratitude to K Sharatkumar for the initiative and encouragement.
Stating it was quite disheartening that retired aided school teachers of the State do not enjoy any kind of pension benefit while teachers in other part of the country do, he also drew the attention of the State Government to look into the matter and extend possible help or assistance to the retired aided school teachers who are bereft of pension scheme.
