Imphal, August 24 2016:
North East Indigenous People's Parliament
(NIPP) has condemned the Tripura incident where supporters of
Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) who were partici-
pating in a peace rally were attacked by the supporters of CPI(M).
Speaking during the observance of 6th Schedule Day at
Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul, NIPP co-ordinator
Ningthouja Lancha supporters of IPFT were taking out a
peace rally demanding separate Twipra land when they were
attacked by the supporters of CPI(M).
Stating that the indigenous people of Tripura have been
curtailed the right to live freely in their home State due to
dominating immigrants, Ningthouja Lancha said that such
threat to the indigenous people should not be taken lightly
by all the right thinking people.
"This issue is not confined only within Tripura.
Threat to
the indigenous people is prevalent in Manipur as well.
To
extend support to the demand of IPFT, NIPP has submitted
a memorandum to the Union Home Minister urging to intervene and resolve the issue at the earliest," Ningthouja Lancha added.
