Imphal, November 23 2018:
Class X teachers are teaching Class XI students at Lamlai Higher Secondary School.
The Class X Science and Arts teachers of the school have been teaching the Class XI students since it was upgraded from the then high school to higher secondary status last, said All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU).
The matter came to light when AMSU was conducting a survey/inspection, as a part of its "Campaign for Total Education", under the aegis of organisation secretary AMSU Imphal East District Committee Zet Pebam, conveyed the statement of AMSU today The teachers have been teaching the higher secondary subjects due to lack of higher secondary teachers/lecturers in the school.
The school has never seen a higher secondary lecturer since the start of the first Class XI Science/Arts batch, claimed AMSU.
With the current academic session ending soon and Class XI examination just around the corner, the parents and guardians are worried about the fate of the students, said the statement.
Besides the lack of teachers, the school classrooms have no adequate desks and benches for the students enrolled in the school.
The school also lacks proper toilets.
The students visit nearby houses to relieve themselves of the natural calls, said the statement of the AMSU.
Appealing the Government and department concerned to send required higher secondary teachers and adequate infrastructure, AMSU warned that it will launch severe agitation if its appeals are not heard within 15 days.
