Proposed New Land Use Policy to be cancelled

State Cabinet has approved the lifting of ban on recruitment for various government departments to enable them to fill the vacant positions including those in the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) .
Informing this to the media, Government Spokesman Moirangthem Okendro who is also the Minister of Education, CAF and PD said the cabinet meeting held on September 19 last at the Chief Minister's secretariat decided to modernise the state Information and Publicity department.
The step for lifting of ban on recruitment has been taken in view of the inconveniences in taking up activities under state plan and centrally sponsored schemes due to lack of staff in various departments, he explained.
The cabinet meet chaired by Chief Minister O.Ibobi Singh resolved to create a number of posts in the DIPR, stated Minister Okendro while citing that one post of Additional Director, 4 posts of Joint Director, 9 posts of Deputy Director and 2 posts of PRO will be created, while some other posts including 9 of Grade IV/Peon or Chowkidar will be reinstated.
Other departments for which the state cabinet gave approval for recruitment are Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Agriculture Department, Transport Department, and Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department, the spokesman added.
The New land Use Policy (NLUP) proposed to be implemented in all districts of Manipur has been cancelled by the Cabinet due to pressures from various sections of people and because of the fund crunch, said Okendro while adding that hill villages will not have Village Development Committee as proposed earlier.
The cabinet meeting also approved the Holiday List for 2015 which will have 25 General Holidays, 17 Public Holidays and 27 Restricted Holidays as prepared by the General Administrative Department (GAD), informed the Minister.
The meeting also approved creation and recruitment of one post of Executive Officer each in 10 Municipal Council and 8 Nagar Panchayats, he disclosed while adding that the state cabinet conceded to the allotment of 44.1 Acre of land to Commerce and Industries Department for construction of Trade cum Permanent Exhibition Centre at Khongnangkhong.
Allotments of land for construction of Kendriya Vidyalaya School at Sangomshang for Imphal East District, at Ningthoupham village for Senapati District, and at Anal Khunou for Chandel District were also approved during the meeting, he pointed out and added that lands belonging to Store of Power Department in Porompat and to PWD Mechanical Division will be transferred to JNIMS.
