7th Private School Day observed

In connection with the foundation day of All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association, Imphal, the 7th Private School Day was observed at the conference hall of Hotel Imphal here today.
The function was graced by IS Khaidem, former VC of MU; Memcha Chanu, President of All Manipur Recognised Private Schools Welfare Association and Dr H Nabachandra, Secretary of Council of Higher Secondary Education as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Dr Nabachandra, who was also present as a special invitee on the occasion observed that private and government schools existing in the state are like both sides of the same coin.
They can never be taken apart.
Education in the state can only be developed if the private and government schools go hand in hand.
He informed that for the first time, the Class XII examination to be conducted in 2013 would be done under the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation where each school will be conducting an internal exam carrying 20 marks and another 80 marks will be conducted as external by the Council of Higher Secondary Education.
The same has already been practiced in other states.
He also stated that the number of student going outside for further studies has considerably decreased as compared to previous years, and on the other hand, the number of Manipuris working outside the state has increased manifold.
