Imphal, October 18 2020:
The Gangte Students' Organisation, General Headquarters (GSO-GHQ) has condemned the alleged assault of ten villagers of Siempat Village, Noney on October 10 by cadres of KLA/KNO armed with AK-47 .
A press release issued by GSO-GHQ said that the atrocity committed by armed cadres is highly condemnable by all right-thinking citizens of the State.
Saying that Longpi Circle in Noney district, comprising of more than 6 Gangte villages including Siempat have been living in peace with the neighbouring communities over the centuries, the organisation expressed disappointment that 'intimidation and harassments' meted out to the villagers have gained momentum since the presence of Kuki undergrounds in the area.
Consequent upon the tragedy, more than 3 households have already deserted their village in fear of the armed group, it claimed, adding that the GSO-GHQ will always stand for its people and any oppression or subjugation to its people that infringe the human rights by outsiders in the force will be dealt with sternly.
The organisation appealed to all armed groups in Longpi Circle to abhor violence.
It also appealed to the authority concerned to do the needful at the earliest.
