College authority warns Employees Association with severe action unless classes resume

Secretary of the governing body of Thambal Marik College, Oinam, W David Singh, today warned the Employee Association of the College of severe action if the ceased classes do not commence from Monday .
The Employee Association has been taking up cease work strike from September 8 in connection with the suspension of two teachers, one non-teaching staff and handing of non-explanation call to two other teacher without giving any proper reason .
Speaking to media persons inside the College campus, he stated that the statement which published in the local dailies which claimed that the Chairman had denied to sign an agreement paper on the representation submitted by the association, is false and added that it is a false information aimed to tarnish the Chairman's reputation .
Contradicting the news statement , he said that the Chairman had signed an acceptance letter to the five demand submitted by the association, on September 13 .
Concerning the demand number 4 of the association which requested for an increment of an extra Rs 2.5 lakh from the overall salary provided by the Government, he clarified that the governing body did not deny the demand but informed the association to discuss the matter with Pay Revision Committee .

Regarding the news report published in the dailies in which MLA and clubs were urged to intervene on the matter, he stated that involving politics in educational affairs is prohibited under Education Court 1982, Rule no 2 and added that any body or association who brings politics into education affairs are liable to legal actions including cancellation of Grand in Aid .
He also stated that the association, despite the agreement with the governing body on September 13, continued its cease work strike on September 15 .
Education Court 1982, Rule no 5, allows employees and staff who are not conducting their duty, to face severe action or arrangement against them, he asserted .
The employees shall commence classes from the coming Monday or face stringent action, he added .
Regarding the report of the association which asserted that a Junior teacher has been appointed as the Principal of the College , he rubbished the claim as false and added the present in-charge Principal is the senior most teacher of the College .
He urged the association not to fabricate such baseless rumours to destroy the reputation of the governing body .
On the other hand, the general secretary of the College Students Union, Oinam James, appealed to the governing body as well as the employee association to negotiate their terms ad adopt an amicable solution at the earliest taking into account the interest of the students, who have not received proper classes for a long time.
