Two brothers sent to 4-day police custody

Session Judge Imphal West further remanded Laishram Suresh and his younger brother Laishram Surjit to four more days police custody till May 18 for allegedly running M/S Heibok filling KSK located at Naran Konjin fraudulently.
The accused brothers were produced before the Court after completion of six days police custody remand.
The defense counsels filed remand objection along with the prayer for release on bail.
IO of the case through APP alleged that the brothers were arrested on May 9 at around 5 pm based on the complaint filed by Civil Supply Inspector (CSI) of CAF&PD that he along with area officer CAF&PD were assigned to check and inspect illegal practices at different petrol pumps located at Imphal West and Imphal East so as to regulate distribution of POL during the lockdown hours in connection with the threat of COVID -19 .
During the checking M/S Heibok filling KSK located at Naran Konjin, it was found that the pump was "owned" by the two accused brothers though the it was in the name of a woman namely Khaidem (O) Sushila w/o (L) Gojendro of Lilong Chajing Chingkhong Leikai.
And during the enquiry it was also established that the alleged accused Laishram Suresh is Government employee, an UDC with the Medical Department now posted at CHC Yairipok and the pump is "fraudulently" "owned" by him and his younger brother Laishram Surjit who is retired Riflemen of Manipur police now a pensioner.
It was alleged that the accused brothers cheated the woman whose husband was a police constable killed in line of duty during June 18 uprising in 2001 .
"The accused brothers had allegedly cheated the woman, official of IOCL and CAF&PD since 2014 and invested huge amount of money disproportionate to their known income to open and run the petrol pump, without disclosing their source of income as well as income generated from the oil pump to the competent authority as a public servant.
Thus they have committed offence of criminal misconduct and a case was registered for investigation," said the IO through APP.
The Court remanded the accused brothers into further police custody till May 18 .
