Thoubal, June 13 2021:
As part of Seva Hi Sangathan phase-2 observance, BJP Wangkhem Mandal along with former minister and BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson Dr Nimaichand Luwang distributed edible items to people in different places of Wangkhem AC on Sunday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the distribution, Dr Nimaichand regretted that some national parties are trying to draw political mileage by portraying Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the wrong side of the COVID-19 vaccination programme when the entire people of the state and the country are suffering.
Government and home department have been trying at their best level to contain the pandemic and vaccination programme is going on in full swing all over the country.
However, some national political parties are trying to sabotage the vaccination programme, he said, adding that now is not the time to take political mileage but to work collectively to defeat the virus.
It was very fortunate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the announcement to provide rice free of cost to the suffering people of the country under PMGKAY scheme and the scheme has been extended now.
Each beneficiary of NFSA will get 5kg rice every month.
However, rice under PMGKAY scheme is being distributed based on voters' list in Wangkhem AC, which indeed is very unfortunate, Dr Nimaichand Luwang said, adding that a written complaint in this regard has been made to DC Thoubal on June 11 and urged the district administration to ensure that every beneficiary gets their entitled rice quota.
