Centre gives attention to NER developments: Dr Jitendra

Union Minister for Development of North-East Region (DoNER), Dr Jitendra Singh stated here on Thursday the Centre is certainly concerned about the 'unfortunate incident' (June 4 Chandel ambush) because under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the entire Northeast region has embarked on a very fast track development.
The visiting minister was sent to the State by the Prime Minister's Office to personally oversee the current situation in the State in the wake of the recent deadly militant ambush on 6 Dogra Regiment in Chandel district.
In the attack, 18 Army soldiers were killed and 11 hurt.

Talking to journalists at the Tulihal International Airport, Dr Jitendra added that the development, the progress and the growth of the Northeast region is very high on the agenda of the present Government at the Centre.
"In the same context all of us must realize that any such incident tends to disturb the peace and tranquility of the region and interfere with the development agenda," he said.
"All of us should jointly contribute our mite to ensure that we can make the best use of the high priority that is according to the development of NE by the present Government," he asserted.
Dr Jitendra later met Governor Syed Ahmad and Chief Minister O Ibobi and discussed the present situation in the State, official sources informed.
He also spoke during a press meet at the Old Secretariat.
He said, "Incidents like that of June 4 tends to interfere with peace and development and all of us are here to commit ourselves to contribute whatever way possible to ensure that there is an environment of peace and tranquility which is compatible with optimum development road of the region.
He appealed to all sections of society to feel reassured that the Central Government is here to stand by them.
