Imphal, April 11 2018:
While saluting all the 'martyrs' who had laid down their lives for the cause of the motherland on the occasion of Athoubasinggi Numit (April 13), the proscribed RPF/PLA has appealed to all the people to take part in offering tributes to the martyrs and light lamps at the gates of each and every household in the evening.
A statement issued by the outfit's Publicity Secretary Roben Khuman conveyed deep respects to all the women whose sons and husbands have been killed by the military as well as to all those people who have been maimed for life on account of atrocities committed by Indian military forces.
April 13 is observed as Athoubasing gi Numit in commemoration of the Battle of Kodompokpi.
The spirit of sacrifice shown by those martyrs of the Battle of Kodompokpi has been a source of inspiration for the younger generations as well as the ongoing liberation movement.
One ideal which all the people should espouse on this historic day is 'heroes sacrifice, revolution marches forward', it asserted.
April 13 is a day of remembering and honouring not only the PLA fighters and leaders but also all other martyrs who have laid down their lives for the cause of Manipur's freedom.
"Even though Manipur was conquered by external forces on a couple of occasions, it remained an independent country throughout history and her independence was guarded by the blood and sweat of our ancestors", asserted the outfit.
The outfit went on to ask if the people of Manipur can ever forget heroes like king Gambhir Singh and Hirachandra etc.
However, the present generation of Manipuri people have been living a wretched life of slavery even after the end of British colonialism.
All the people have been suffering extreme misery under the Indian regime, it alleged.
All the political, economic and social rights of the indigenous people of Manipur are being suppressed by the alien rule, further alleged RPF.
Since September 25, 1978, the PLA has carrying on a war of avenging blood with blood.
It was in such fierce battle that Oja Kunjabihari fought to the last breath rather than surrendering to the 'enemy' even though his body was burning.
It was the Battle of Kodompokpi of April 13, 1982 where many other PLA leaders and fighters fought to the last breath.
The objective of RPF and PLA is to establish an independent and progressive State in Manipur after bringing an end to the alleged colonial rule, it said.
It further called upon all Manipuris settled in different parts of the world to focus their attention and energy to the ongoing liberation movement.
The outfit also appealed to all the people not to organise any entertainment programme on April 13 .
