Imphal, September 07 2012:
With a view to overcome the problems being faced by its employees, the State Education Department has decided to revise its Transfer and Posting Policy in tune with the changing time.
According to official sources in the Education Department, all the top officials of the State Government and those of the Education Department have discussed the issue in detail.
Accordingly, necessary measures have been taken up for revising the Transfer and Posting Policy of the Education Department which was finalized way back in 1996 .
Sources disclosed that the State Government has also given its approval to handing over all the schools up to the level of Primary in the Hill Districts to the respective Autonomous District Council (ADC) .
When Hueiyen Lanpao enquired about the situation wherein many of the teachers who have not been able to lobby higher officials, are still being posted in hill areas for the last many years, while many of the teachers who have connections get posted in places of their convenience, the Education Minister assured that stringent measures would be put in place to plug the existing loopholes in the Education Department.
Along with revising the existing Transfer and Posting Policy, many of these loopholes would be able to do away with, the Minister expressed optimism.
It may be noted here that though none of the elected representatives of the state want to connect themselves with the Education Department, which is regarded as the most corrupted department, after Moirangthem Okendro took over the charge of Education portfolio; many drastic changes have been brought about in the department.
For the first time in the history of Manipur, retired teachers are also being provided their pensionary benefits on the day of their retirement under the initiative of Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro.
